Learning new skills and sharping existing skills is key to success. The IAM Union has the greatest resource for educating our membership, The William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3), The vision of International President William W. Winpisinger. Interesting fact, the first program held was Organizing on August 4-14, 1981. Brother Mike Montes Local Lodge 839, and I went last week, January 19-24, 2025, for Strategic Communications for Organizers. The class was instructed by Jason Woodward, Grand Lodge Representative, and Gabby Rogano, International Representative of the IAM Organizing Department. And like building a strong internal committee for a campaign,
they put together a solid line up of IAM experienced professional to help. The IAM Communications Department was on hand to educate on Graphic Design & Photograph; Ross Olsen Communication Representative, Advance Video for Organizing; Hayden Duncan Communication Representative, Utilizing the Media; Delane Adams Assistant Director of Communication, social media & organizing; Angela Colaizzi Communication Representative, Digitial Advertising & Lead generation; Elias Flamenco Rivera Communication Representative, and Email and Texting best practices; Angela Colaizzi Communication Representative. The IAM Legal department covered Legal Do's and Don'ts Communicating with NON-members; Laura Ewan Associate General Counsel. And last but not least IAM Organizing Director Mike Evans discussed the strategy of Targeting the Union Buster. We walked away with more knowledge to help grow and educate our membership.
